In 2002 I was accepted to study for an MA in Medieval Studies. As part of the selection process I was asked to write a few words about any subject that interested me and at the time I submitted this essay [you can read it here] about my ideas regarding the origins of the early Templars and how they may have been found in Godfrey de Bouillon and his family and close connections.
Yesterday I became aware of a book [pictured below] about the family origins of the Knights Templar [originally published in 2015]. I will be fascinated to read this publication [it arrives Friday!] because it will be in far greater depth and academic rigour than I ever wrote in 2002. As you can see it is about landowning families in France and their families in the origins of the Templars.
I look forward to reading the analysis and if not quite Godfrey, perhaps other important families of the time may be relevant and so I await his book eagerly and may be I will give it a review for those so interested!
